Escherichia Coli (Oil) Cattle And Sheep
From R 275.37
- 50 x 2ml
- 25 x 2ml
Formalinised oil-emulsion bacterin of selected serotypes of Escherichia coli for the enhancement of colostral immunity of calves and lambs to E. coli infections
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR USE:
The administration of the vaccine to pregnant cows or ewes will protect the offspring against certain pathogenic E. coli strains via the colostrum. It is, therefore, essential that newly-born animals receive colostrum within the first eight hours after birth. If not, the vaccine will have no effect. Managemental factors concerning feeding and housing must not be neglected or else colostral immunity will be unsuccessful in preventing the disease. Cows and ewes should receive 2 ml of vaccine intramuscularly (preferably in the neck) 10 weeks before parturition and a second injection 6 weeks later. The second injection is very important for better immunity. A booster injection should be given before each calving/lambing.
Do not slaughter animals for human consumption within 7 days of vaccination. Vaccinate healthy animals only. Keep out of reach of children, uninformed persons and animals. Animals which have previously been inoculated with oil-based products may develop a reaction at the injection site.
Although this product has been extensively tested under a large variety of conditions, failure thereof may ensue as a result of a wide range of reasons. If this is suspected, seek veterinary advice and notify the registration holder.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Use only as directed.
Sterilise syringes and needles by boiling in water for at least 15 minutes. Do not use disinfectants or methylated spirits for sterilising either syringes or needles. If possible use a sterile needle for each animal. Keep the vaccine at room temperature until it is fluid. Shake the bottle well before use. Avoid exposure to high temperature and direct sunlight during inoculation.
DOSAGE: Cows and ewes 2 ml intramuscularly
EFFECTS OF THE VACCINE
The vaccine may cause a transient swelling at the site of injection. No systemic reactions should occur. Immunity cannot be guaranteed in all animals.
Store the vaccine at a temperature of 4 ˚C to 8 ˚C, in a refrigerator. Do not use the vaccine after the expiry date printed on the bottle.
