DOSAGE FORM: Injectable solution.
COMPOSITION: Oxytetracycline hydrochloride 200 mg/ml.
A single intramuscular injection of 1 ml/10 kg live body mass provides sufficient oxytetracycline blood levels for 3 to 5 days. Hi-Tet 200 LA Gold is recommended for the treatment of infections caused by oxytetracycline-sensitive organisms. Hi-Tet 200 LA Gold is recommended wherever prolonged antibiotic treatment is indicated, or where for practical reasons, daily handling of animals is not feasible.
WARNINGS: The meat of treated animals may not be used for human consumption within 28 days of the last treatment. Milk from treated animals must not be used for human consumption within 6 days of the last treatment. Use only in cattle, sheep, goats and pigs. Do not administer intravenously. Do not mix with other injectable solutions. Keep out of reach of children, uninformed persons and animals. Although this remedy has been tested under a large variety of conditions, failure thereof may ensue as a result of a wide range of reasons. If this is suspected, seek veterinary advice and notify the registration holder.
PRECAUTIONS: No more than 20 ml should be injected at any one site. Temporary swelling may occur at the injection site.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE: Use only as directed. Do not inject intravenously. A single intramuscular injection at 20 mg oxytetracycline per kg live body mass (1 ml/10 kg) provides sustained blood levels for 3 to 5 days. In the case of severe infections, the treatment may be repeated after 72 hours.
DOSAGE:
- Cattle: 1 ml/10 kg live body mass by deep intramuscular injection.
- Sheep and goats: 1 ml/10 kg live body mass by deep intramuscular injection. In sheep and goats over 50 kg, it is recommended that the dose be divided and administered into 2 injection sites.
- Pigs: In pigs weighing up to 10 kg, administer 1 ml deep intramuscularly in the neck behind the ear. In heavier animals, administer 1 ml/10 kg by deep intramuscular injection in the neck. In pigs over 100 kg it is recommended that the dose be divided and administered into 2 injection sites.
NB: For rapid recovery a prompt and accurate diagnosis is essential. It is, therefore always advisable to consult your veterinarian for a correct diagnosis.
